Emeril's Penne With Italian Sausage

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 1 lb penne pasta
  • 1 lb sweet italian sausage
  • 2 cups thinly sliced yellow onions
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
  • parmesan cheese

Recipe

  • 1 cook penne pasta according to package directions.
  • 2 while waiting for pasta to cook, cook crumbled italian sausage in large skillet, about 7 to 8 minutes. (if sausage is in casings, remove and cook.) after sausage is browned add onions and saute, about 8 to 10 minutes, until golden. add garlic, salt and pepper and saute for 30 seconds.
  • 3 drain the cooked pasta and combine with sausage mixture. add extra-virgin olive oil and fresh basil and toss gently to combine.
  • 4 serve garnished with parmesan cheese.
