Ginger Turkey Meatballs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 10
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon grated gingerroot
  • 1/3 cup dry breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 (12 ounce) jar mango chutney

Recipe

  • 1 in a large saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium heat.
  • 2 add onion and garlic; cook and stir for 5 minutes.
  • 3 remove from heat and place onion mixture in large bowl.
  • 4 add salt, pepper, ginger, ginger root, bread crumbs and eggs and mix well.
  • 5 add turkey and mix gently until combined.
  • 6 roll into 1 ½ inch balls, cover and chill for 2-3 hours.
  • 7 when ready to eat, combine 2 tablespoons olive oil and butter in large saucepan.
  • 8 cook meatballs , turning occasionally, until tender and golden brown, about 10-12 minutes.
  • 9 add broth and chutney to skillet and bring to a simmer.
  • 10 place meatballs and sauce in chafing dish or slow cooker on warm.
