Country Beef Patties

Total Time: 1 hr 10 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 50 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 slices uncooked bacon, strips diced
  • 1 teaspoon diced onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green peppers
  • 1 tablespoon chopped onion
  • 1 (14 1/2 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 -2 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Recipe

  • 1 in a bowl, combine beef, bacon, onion, salt and pepper.
  • 2 shape into four oval patties; brown in a skillet over medium heat. remove patties and keep warm.
  • 3 drain all but 1 tbl drippings; saute green pepper and onion in drippings until tender.
  • 4 add tomatoes, bay leaves, sugar, celery salt, salt and pepper.
  • 5 combine water and flour until smooth; add to tomato mixture, stirring constantly. bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes. return patties to gravy. reduce heat; cover and simmer for 30 minutes. uncover and simmer 10 minutes longer. remove the bay leaves.
