Half-time Chili

Total Time: 2 hrs 20 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 2 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 10
  • 2 lbs round steaks (cut into 1/2 inch cubes)
  • 1 lb coarse ground beef
  • 2 green peppers (diced)
  • 2 large onions (diced)
  • 28 ounces canned diced tomatoes
  • 16 ounces salsa (medium spicy)
  • 10 ounces condensed tomato soup
  • 15 ounces canned pinto beans
  • 15 ounces canned kidney beans
  • 4 ounces diced green chilies
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons oregano
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • hot sauce

Recipe

  • 1 saute diced steak and ground beef with the onions and green pepper.
  • 2 add all remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
  • 3 reduce heat and simmer covered for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  • 4 add additional chili powder and/or hot sauce to taste.
  • 5 continue simmering uncovered on low heat for 30 minutes to thicken.
