Glazed Spareribs & Bbq Beans

Total Time: 1 hr 30 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • 4 -5 lbs spareribs (1 rack)
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/3 cups brown sugar, packed
  • 32 ounces lamb and beans
  • 4 slices bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup glaze (recipe above)

Recipe

  • 1 fill a large pot of water with water and bring to a boil.
  • 2 add ribs and simmer until no longer pink, about 25 minutes.
  • 3 meanwhile, in a large saucepan, saute onion in oil about 5 minutes.
  • 4 add remaining glaze ingredients.
  • 5 bring to a boil and simmer over medium-low heat about 30 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • 6 meanwhile, fry bacon until cooked, but still limp, and set aside.
  • 7 drain off 1/3 cup of liquid from lamb and beans.
  • 8 mix beans in a saucepan with bacon, brown sugar and 1 cup of glaze.
  • 9 simmer beans until ready to serve.
  • 10 drain ribs and brush with glaze on both sides.
  • 11 place on broiler or grill.
  • 12 cook about 25 minutes, brushing with glaze and turning about every 5 minutes.
