Crunchy Apple Beef

Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 3/4 lb flank steak, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest, zest from 1/2 lemon
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon chinese five spice powder
- 1 granny smith apple, cored and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1/2 red bell pepper, seeded and cut into 1/2-inch diced
- 1/2 green bell pepper, seeded and cut into 1/2-inch diced
- 3 green onions, cut into 2-inch lenghts
Recipe
- 1 to make the marinade, combine the cornstarch and soy sauce into a bowl and mix well.
- 2 add the beef and stir to coat evenly. let stand for 10 minutes.
- 3 in a small bowl, combine the lemon zest, lemon juice, and 5 spice powder and mix well.
- 4 add the apple and stir to coat evenly.
- 5 place a wok over high heat until hot.
- 6 add the oil, swirling to coat the sides.
- 7 add the beef and cook, stirring, until rare, about two minutes.
- 8 add the apple mixture, bell peppers, and green onions and cook, stirring, until the apples are tender-crisp, about two minutes.
- 9 transfer to a serving plate and serve.
