Hackbraten German Meatloaf

Ingredients
- Servings: 4
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 1/2 cups chopped onions (divided)
- 2 slices bread, trimmed and diced
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
- 3/4 lb ground beef
- 3/4 lb ground lamb
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
- 1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs
- 3/4 cup hot beef broth
Recipe
- 1 melt 2 tablespoons of the butter in a skillet; saute half the onions 5 minutes.
- 2 mix in the diced bread and parsley; saute 2 minutes.
- 3 combine this mixture with the beef, lamb, egg, salt, and pepper.
- 4 mix well and shape into a loaf; sprinkle with the bread crumbs.
- 5 melt the remaining butter in a baking pan.
- 6 place the loaf in it and add the broth and remaining onions.
- 7 bake in a 375°f.
- 8 oven 1 1/4 hours, basting frequently.
