Gingered Figs

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 35 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 20 dried figs
  • 1 1/2 cups cold water
  • 1 tablespoon light molasses
  • 2 teaspoons powdered ginger
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Recipe

  • 1 place figs and water in saucepan.
  • 2 bring to hard boil, then lower heat and simmer.
  • 3 cover figs and cook for 20 minutes.
  • 4 add molasses, ginger and sugar.
  • 5 stir gently in order to avoid breaking figs.
  • 6 simmer for 15 minutes more or until figs are plumped and tender.
  • 7 wonderful with meat or on their own!
  • 8 makes 5 to 6 servings.
