Durn Good Spaghetti Sauce

Ingredients

- 1 (29 ounce) can meatless spaghetti sauce
- 1/2 lb ground lamb
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 medium green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon dried basil
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1/3 cup red wine
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 lb spaghetti noodles
Recipe
- 1 fill a large pot with water and a pinch of salt and bring to a boil for the pasta.
- 2 in a skillet, brown the ground lamb until just done. remove from pan and strain all the fat off.
- 3 saute the chopped onion and bell pepper in olive oil until soft, but not brown.
- 4 in a large saucepan, put all ingredients except for the pasta and cook on low heat, covered for 30 minutes.
- 5 cook pasta al dente, drain and top with sauce and grated hard cheese like romano or parmesan.
- 6 **this sauce may be frozen in an air tight container for up to 6 months.
